Jared "Pete" Gile
For a person trying to attain success as a folk/country singer and songwriter, it’s doubtful that anyone would suggest that residing in North Central Kansas would make much sense. However, that all depends on your perception of what success is, and how important personal sanity can be to a creative mind. While the middle of the Midwest might not be a hotbed of opportunity for a songwriter and a man trying to make a living in the music business, it still remains where Jared "Pete" Gile finds solace to keep his creative juices flowing and calls home. For the last 6 years, Jared “Pete” Gile has scratched out a living in the music business based on live performances in smoke filled bars and honky tonks from Kansas all the way to the famed town of Luckenbach, Texas. Minus a brief stint of fronting his own band in 2004, Gile’s career has primarily been as a solo performer. “It’s kind of a “what you see is what you get” type of show when I play. Ain’t gonna be no screaming lead guitar solos or pyrotechnics during the show. It’s just me, my guitar and my songs” Says Gile. “Sure I work hard at trying to be funny and entertaining when I perform but to me this has always been about performing good songs and nothing else.” Over his relatively short career, Gile has independently released two albums of original songs: 2003’s “Modern Day Mountain Man” and 2007’s “More of Me.” Both were recorded and produced by Steve Palousek at Awesome Works Recording in Holland, TX. While the entire first album and the bulk of the second album are fully produced tracks with studio band backing, Gile added 6 solo acoustic cuts recorded during a live show in 2006 as a bonus to the end second album. The live recording gives the listener a glimpse of what a Jared “Pete” Gile show is all about. As Blogcritics Music Magazine writer Patrick Cossel puts it, “Gile interacts with the audience through quirky little stories and funny anecdotes. There are stories for every song that he plays, and stories that show how each song is a part of him.” Since 2003 Gile has averaged over 80 shows per year and has shared the stage with a plethora of greats acts and songwriters including Cross Canadian Ragweed, Trent Wilmon, Billy Joe Shaver, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Darrell Scott, Max Stalling, Kevin Fowler and many more. Like most people trying to make their way in life as a musician, Gile has held down a wagonload of part-time jobs along his journey. After receiving two degrees in college, one in Aviation and another in Wildlife Biology, Gile went on to supplement his habit as a musician by working as a research technician, taxidermists assistant and construction worker. Recently Gile finally found his niche outside of music by starting a new business and website with his father called www.fencepostfurniture.com . Now Gile fills his days with building rustic furniture by hand while thinking over lyrics for his next song in the business’s woodshop. While persistently touring the Midwest with his autograph laden guitar, Jared “Pete” Gile is constantly writing new songs for his next release which he hopes will gain him one more rung up the ladder of success.
